Favorite Newton's Nook Designs Stamp Set

Hi everyone!  Today I am sharing a card I created for Newton's Nook Designs Inky Paws Challenge #136  - Theme Challenge: Use your favorite NND stamp set.  I just want to say, I am not mixed up on the season!  Lol!!  I know we are heading into winter, but I just LOVE NND Woodland Spring stamp set so I had to use it for this challenge!  I do plan on making another card for this challenge featuring my favorite winter themed stamp set!

To start this card I cut a piece of kraft cardstock to 8.5" by 3.5" and inked the edges with Distress Oxide Ink Frayed Burlap.  Next, I die cut a piece of smooth white cardstock with the scalloped frame die from NND Slimline Frames and Portholes die set on which I blended Distress Oxide Inks Scattered Straw, Tattered Rose, and Milled Lavender.  I then die cut the grass using NND Land Borders die set, and the trees, birds, and squirrel using NND Forest Scene Builder die set.  For the grass, I blended Distress Oxide Inks Old Paper and Peeled Paint, then flicked it with a little water to create some texture.  I dabbed Distress Oxide Ink Weathered Wood onto the trees, blended Festive Berries and Candied Apple to create the red bird, Tumbled Glass and Salty Ocean for the blue bird, and Vintage Photo and Weathered Wood for the squirrel.

With the background pieces complete, I stamped out the gorgeous images from NND Woodland Spring stamp set, colored them with Copic markers, then cut them out with the coordinating die set.  I played around with placement of the background pieces and critters to get them just where I wanted them before adhering any pieces to my card.  I used foam tape to adhere the grass and give some dimension.  I used liquid glue to adhere the trees and birds in the background, and the squirrel and flowers to the grass.  I used a combination of both adhesives to attach the critters to my card.  I then stamped the sentiment in brown pigment ink.  I couldn't help but use the "Welcome Spring!" sentiment on this card.  It seemed so appropriate for such a beautiful spring scene!
